Services
Washington
Area Network Services, LLC (WANS) has demonstrated its capacity to
deliver quality services to a diverse client base of nonprofit organizations,
small and large businesses, and government agencies. The depth and
breadth of our capacity is reflected in the number and kind of services
we offer:
•
Network Security: we provide a full range of security options
to protect mission-critical data. For maximum security, we promote
a combination of Trend Micro Neat Suite, WatchGuard Firewall devices,
and Norton’s Anti-virus Suite. These three products ensure
security from server to desktop.
• LAN/WAN Design and Build-out: we specialize in helping non-profits
and small business improve their technology infrastructure. We provided
network design implementation services for organization’s start-up
phase, as well as cabling/wiring layout and installation during its
relocation.
• Hardware/Software Upgrades: we monitor hardware warranties
and software upgrades in order to provide up-to-date information help
organizations reach peak efficiency by implementing the best available
technologies. Our collaboration culminated in a region-wide change
in technical capacity for one of the key service providers in our nation’s
economy.
• Data Migration: we are charged with managing and migrating data for
a number of clients. We take this obligation seriously, understanding
that data management has practical, financial and sometimes legal
implications. We make every effort to ensure that data is secure, duplicated
and
migrated successfully, so that employee down-time is minimized and
mission-critical information remains available.
• Wireless
Solutions: the flexibility of wireless solutions is a benefit many
of our clients
enjoy. We install wireless networks
and wireless infrastructure for businesses which enable them to take
advantage of leading edge technology.
• Internet Connectivity Assistance: in the event that there
is an interruption in internet service, we will work tirelessly until
the problem is resolved. We identify where the problem resides—hardware,
wiring, or the Internet Service Provider, etc.—and implement
the appropriate solution. Oftentimes, we work with clients to troubleshoot
internet connectivity problems outside the office in addition to our
in-house support.
• Internet & Intranet
E-mail Systems: as part of our overall software support and strategic
planning for more efficient communications
systems, we have developed an expertise in the configuration and administration
of internet and intranet e-mail systems. We are particularly proficient
with Microsoft Exchange and its remote access functionality via Webmail,
while we are also able to support alternative email applications.
• Internet
Firewall Security: as mentioned above (see Network Security section),
we are
committed to instituting Internet security
devices that are robust and effective. Our approach is to offer solutions
from the initial connection, to the server, to the individual end-user.
In covering each area, we are confident that we provide our clients
with a network environment that is protected against malicious attacks
and viruses.
• Remote
Office and User Connectivity: in addition to providing quality in-house
support
for all end-users, we work to make the network
resources available to any user (per access restrictions) through VPN,
or virtual private network, technology. As needed, we can dispatch
technicians to implement, test, and troubleshoot VPN for users at their
homes or remote facilities.
• Remote
Application Support: in many cases, we are able to provide off-site
support through
remote monitoring software that allows
us to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues without dispatching
a technician for on-site support. This benefits the client both in
network up-time and in the ability to maintain a more continuous work
environment.
• Backup and Anti-virus Solutions: we routinely back-up our
clients’ data, and maintain off-site storage for an extra level
of security. In the event of catastrophic systems failure, we work
with vendors who specialize in data recovery. For protection against
virus attacks and hackers, we recommend a comprehensive suite of products
that scan email, limit and secure network access, and block suspicious
Internet traffic. Overall, our approach has prevented recent virus
outbreaks from affecting the daily operations of our clients.
• Voice/Data
Cabling Solutions: proper cabling for voice and data is the central
nervous
system for a network environment. We work
with clients during the network build-out stage to identify a scalable
solution; we want to meet current needs and provide a bridge for future
growth.
• Job Training/Economic Opportunities: WANS promotes opportunities
for employment through its support of community technology centers.
For example, through a collaboration with the Suitland Family and Life
Development Corporation/Suitland Technology Center, we are encouraging
residents of Prince George’s County to pursue technology training
in preparation for careers in the IT industry. We are undertaking these
efforts as a part of the Suitland Revitalization Initiative.
